ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jacqueline Ghosh is an Indian-American artist based in Southern California. Her journey as a painter began at age 6. Her mother recognized her natural talent and enrolled her in an oil painting academy. There, Jacqueline immersed herself in the techniques of Impressionism, laying the foundation for a practice rooted in vivid color and emotion. By her teenage years, Jacqueline was already painting intimate portraits of friends and family—quiet studies of identity and connection.

While pursuing studies in history, sociology, and philosophy at UC Berkeley, Jacqueline encountered new modes of thinking that profoundly shaped her artistic vision. Her academic inquiry into systems of power, culture, and the human experience continues to inform the conceptual depth of her work.

Identity lies at the heart of Jacqueline’s practice. As a mixed-race woman, she draws strength and insight from her Bengali heritage, embracing it as a wellspring of both spiritual and creative energy. At the same time, her personal history—beginning work as a fashion model at the age of fifteen—taught her that beauty can be a source of both empowerment and confinement. From a young age, she grappled with the shame imposed by racial stereotypes and the alienation of being perceived as “other.” These early experiences left a lasting impression, shaping her reflections on race, gender, and belonging.

Today, Jacqueline channels these inner conflicts into powerful visual narratives. Her ongoing series Mortality and Divinity explores the dualities that define the human condition—power and vulnerability, beauty and horror, transcendence and decay. In contrast, her series Scenes From Earth celebrates life in its most vivid and sensuous forms: lush landscapes, moments of quiet joy, and dreamlike visions of the natural world.

Through her work, Jacqueline Ghosh offers viewers an invitation to step into her world—a world shaped by introspection, cultural hybridity, and the search for meaning in a fractured world.
